You can customize the appearance of the TrackPoint Properties panel and the Help text that goes with it by replacing tp4res.dll and tp4.hlp with your own versions.

The self executing zip file  tp4res216.exe contains the files necessary to build the resource dll, tp4res.dll, and the context-sensitive help file, tp4.hlp for the TrackPoint 2.16 and higher drivers.

The self executing zip file  tp4res210.exe contains the files necessary to build the resource dll, tp4res.dll, and the context-sensitive help file, tp4.hlp for the TrackPoint 2.10 through 2.15 drivers.

The self executing zip file  tp4res200.exe contains the files necessary to build the resource dll, tp4res.dll, and the context-sensitive help file, tp4.hlp for the TrackPoint 2.00 through 2.09 drivers.

The self executing zip file  tp4res.exe contains the files necessary to build the resource dll, tp4res.dll, and the context-sensitive help file, tp4.hlp for the general  version.

Self executing zip file  tp4res105.exe contains the files necessary to build the resource dll, tp4res.dll, and the context-sensitive help file, tp4.hlp for ThinkPad product version.

The dll should be built with Microsoft Visual C++ 5.0. (When built with MSVC++ 4.0, the dll would generate an error when loaded on NT 3.51, presumably due to a bug in the retail (but not debug) version of the runtime library included therein.) The help file should be built with Microsoft Help Workshop.

The dll-building procedure will go most smoothly if the zip file is unzipped into a directory named \project\tp4. If this is not done, it may be necessary to re-add the .c and .rc file back to the project (since Developer Studio seems to store absolute, rather than relative, pathnames in the project file).

The helpfile building procedure will go most smoothly if the tp4help.rtf file is edited with a plain text editor, NOT an rtf editor. (E.g., Notepad or Emacs would both work fine.)
